ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has filed a petition to register a case against American blogger Cynthia D. Ritchie for hurling allegations against former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
The local leadership of PPP in Islamabad has requested for registration of the case. Islamabad President Shakeel Abbasi has filed a request to the Session Judge.
Additional Sessions Judge Jahangir Awan has issued notice to Cynthia and the court has issued notices to FIA and PTA along with the Cynthia Ritchie seeking a reply by June 9. The court said in the notice that American journalist Cynthia D Richie should appear on June 9 in person or through a legal representative. On Friday, Cynthia Ritchie had accused Senator Rehman Malik of allegedly raping her, saying the incident happened to her in 2011 when he was the federal interior minister. She later revealed in a tweet that she had been drugged before the incident took place. In her video, Cynthia Ritchie also claimed that former health minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani physically manhandled her. She said that Yousuf Raza Gilani manhandled her while he was staying at the President's House. Responding to the allegations in an exclusive interview with a TV channel, Yousuf Raza Gilani rejected the allegations.
