KARACHI: Sindh Excise and Taxation Department on Saturday claimed to have collected Rs68.94 billion by the end of May. According to details, the Sindh Excise department during the current financial year from July 2019 to April-May collected Rs68.94 billion under various taxes heads.

The department has collected Rs5.41 billion as motor vehicle tax, Rs56.81 billion as infrastructure cess, Rs512.77 million as professional tax, Rs203.482 million as cotton fee, 1.82 billion as property tax, Rs60.177 million as entertainment duty and rest of the revenue under other heads.

The Sindh government had given 25 per cent exemption in property tax, professional tax, motor vehicle tax and entertainment duty in view of the difficulties of the people during the lockdown.
