ISLAMABAD: Chairman National Assembly Standing Committee on Industries and Production Sajid Hussain Turi has condemned the government for deciding to fire employees of Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) enblock.
Sajid Turi, who also visited PSM with other members of the committee a couple of months ago to evaluate the prospects of its revival, wherein the committee was informed that the government was trying to revive the mills, told this while talking to Business Recorder.
He was of the view that the committee felt during the visit that PSM management was making half hearted efforts to revive the mills.
In reply to question, Sajid Turi said he personally and at the level of Standing Committee would raise that issue at every level including in the National Assembly as that was not the proper time to take such decisions in haste when employees were already facing difficult time due to outbreak of Covid-19. “I don't think the government will be able to privatise PSM as Sindh government will resist every such move," he added.
