ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched inquiry against management of Al-Moiz Industries Ltd and officials of Department of Industries, Punjab, allegedly for misuse of certificate issued for establishment of sugar mill in Mianwali, well-informed sources in NAB told Business Recorder.
Al-Moiz Industries, sources said, allegedly got permission to set up Mianwali plant for beet crushing but the plant is operating on sugarcane crushing in violation of original permission which was primarily to circumvent the permission on setting up of sugar mill to run and operate under the guise of beet plant.
According to the NAB notice, issued in accordance with provision of information under section 19 of NAO 1999 – the Bureau is conducting the inquiry against Al-Moiz Industries and officials of Industries Department Punjab.
In this regard, NAB has asked Al-Moiz Industries to provide the complete record of application and other documents submitted by it for location clearance certificate.
Both the Al-Moiz Industries and Industries Department Punjab have been directed to appear in person before Assistant Director NAB, Tasaddaq Iqbal,on June 10, 2020 in Lahore.
