LAHORE: Another police officer has passed away within a week due to coronavirus, taking the tally of deaths to five cops in the provincial capital on Wednesday.
According to the information, Sub-Inspector Khalid Hussain had contracted the virus last week and remained in self-isolation since then, but could not survive.
He left behind three wives and five children. Speaking to the media, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Zulfiqar Hameed paid rich tributes to the departed soul and said the Lahore police have lost “another son of in the war against coronavirus".
He said that Khalid remained in self-isolation for a week, but he could not survive. Earlier, he added, four personnel of the Lahore police, including Head Constable Shams, Head Constable Ramzan Alam, Inspector Rao Javed and acting DSP CIA Civil Lines Amir Dogar were martyred in the line of duty.
“So far, 121 police officers have been quarantined at different places due to the virus while 84 officers have defeated the virus by regaining their health and resumed their duties," he said, adding that nearly 24 traffic wardens and 17 Dolphin Force officials are also suffering from the Covid-19.
