LAHORE: There is no let-up in the spread of the coronavirus as 30 more deaths were reported across the province of Punjab taking the total fatalities to 570.
Lahore was worst hit by Covid-19 since 1630 more positive cases were reported here, Punjab's tally of cases crossing 29,500.
According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, as many as 7,110 people have recovered from the virus while 252,469 tests have been conducted so far in the province. This takes the total number of recoveries to 28,923 across the country.
According to a report shared by the department, people over 50 years of age are the most vulnerable to the virus; hence, people in this age bracket must stay at home. Another research said that by wearing masks, transmission of the virus can be controlled by around 40%.
Health professionals urged the patients who show symptoms to immediately call the helpline instead of waiting at home as it increases risks not only for the whole family but also for those who come into contact with the carrier.
The Punjab government has entrusted Rescue 1122 with the task of shifting the coronavirus patients to nearby hospitals as the service was provided with complete data about available treatment facilities, sources said.
It may be noted that Punjab has currently 1450 ventilators which are used for critically-ill patients.
