LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan has announced that every COVID-19 affected media worker would be given Rs 100,000 from the Information Department.

According to a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that in case of any unfortunate death of a media worker, the government would give one million rupees to the family, in addition to monthly pension of Rs 10,000 to the spouse for life.

He said that applications for availing special relief package for media could be submitted to the DGPR office.

Giving details, the minister said that a copy of applicant's national identity card as well as office card, corona diagnostic report from any government laboratory and a letter from the media house concerned would be required along with the application.

He said that Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar had launched a special relief package for all front-line workers including media workers against COVID-19, leading all other provinces.

He said that the relief package for the media workers was an acknowledgment from the chief minister of the services of the media workers in the fight against coronavirus.
